How to Begin

I have been thinking about starting my own book review blog for weeks now and now that I'm here staring at the screen of my computer I'm not totally sure how I should begin this.
Reading for me has become somewhat of an obsession. It started when I was going through a really rough patch in my life and I wasn't sure what to do with myself. My aunt suggested I read the Outlander series by Diana Gabaldon and damn did I fall in love. Ever since I've been reading non stop for three years, and with the discovery of Kindle and all the books you can get at the touch of your finger Ive really racked up my reading lists.
Sometimes though its hard to find a good book to really get into, and sometimes you read a book and you just want more. Whether that's more of the same or something similar, it can be hard to find a book that really gets you going. So Im starting this blog to share what Ive read and to hopefully start a community for other avid readers.

A Lost Paige is book two in the Hidden Kingdom Trilogy, the first being A Torn Paige by L. Rose. I read the first book accouple weeks ago and debated writing a review about it in my Favorites of November post but decided against it. I wanted to love this book, and in some aspects I liked it but I found it severely lacking. This series centers around our heroine Paige Alice who in the first book we discover that she is the Ghoul Queen chosen to rule by the former queen shortly before she died. Gypsy Blood - Kristy Cunning

Kristy Cunning's All the Pretty Monsters series is great, I'm currently re-reading it so I'll start off with book one. I think she did a fantastic job with this series. It's well thought out, unique and entertaining. This story revolves around Violet, or January Violet Carmine. Violet is a twenty-five year old gypsy woman who after finding out her mother just died and left her everything in a small town called Shadow Hills moves to take over her mothers Gypsy Magic business, making healing potions as well as recreational "gypsy spice", and a bunch of other things. Violet is many things, a Portacle Gypsy being only one of those things, she has many secrets and layers to her that we very slowly begin to learn in book one, Gypsy Blood. The Devils Heir - Angel Nyx

Sigh.. This book went way too fast. It has some seriously good storyline, what with the authors own take on Hell and the Devil and demons and all that but lacked severely in the details. The little things, small details like movements in a room or a definite sense of time passing. The whole book is dialogue, and not even very good dialogue. Seriously some of it made me cringe. It felt like this story was burning a hole in the authors pocket and they couldn't get it out fast enough. I will say though I loved the overall idea of this story, the underlying themes that make you question your own beliefs. The protagonist is refreshingly confident and sure of herself. The steamy sex scenes are definitely hot but again lacked any real build up. All together, this book is a great read if you're just passing time or don't have anything better to do but not if you're looking for a book that consumes you.
