Descendant of Blood - M. Sinclair
This book is amazing and far exceeds my expectations of what it was going to be like. Descendant of Blood is book 2 in M. Sinclair's Descendants series which I just now realized I skipped book 1 Descendant of Chaos. I'll have to read and review book 1 at some point soon. M. Sinclair is also the author of Reborn in Flames which I reviewed accouple days ago and is also a very good read. I loved this story, its dark and twisted yet beautifully written and I simultaneously didn't want to put it down yet didn't want it to end.
Descendant of Blood centers around Nova, a witch/demi-god badass who has the power of storms and is the daughter of Set the Egyptian god of chaos. I loved her character so much for her confidence, strength and most of all her humor. Nova and her six boyfriends, yes six plus two demi-god soon-to-be boyfriends are a sexy bunch of power and seduction. I loved all of their different personalities but I think Nova and Ever's relationship is my favorite. Ever is a psychopathic creep yet oddly charming. The author has a great ability to got from dark and twisted to lovingly caressing you into a frenzy that has your toes curling and thighs clenching.
In this book Nova's father-not-father, whose a true serial killer and necrophilliac has been murdering his own kind (witches) to harvest dark power for his own nefarious intentions that are yet to be revealed. Nova and her boyfriends are on the hunt to find out what exactly those intentions are. There are a lot of underlying emotional trauma in this series that not one of the characters seems to be in a hurry to address but gives you enough to understand a rough picture of their pasts. I will say I put myself at a disadvantage by reading the second book first (on accident) but whatever it was still a good read and I'm looking forward to reading the rest of the series.
All in all I absolutely enjoyed reading this book, M. Sinclair has a great talent at sucking you into her books. I definitely recommend this book if you're a fan of reverse harems.
