Reborn in Flames - M. Sinclair

Reborn in Flames is honestly pretty good. Maya is a seventeen almost eighteen year old girl who has suffered emotional and physical abuse at the hands of her own parents since she can remember
because of the so called "Devil" in her. When her god fearing, abusive father dies, her mother moves them both into a trailer park with her sleazy boyfriend. Maya meets tall dark and handsome by running into him at a gas station. Marco immediately realizes she is his and his flights fated mate. Maya is strong and confident yet extremely naïve and curious because of her upbringing. Her "fated mates" are all well written characters that I adore. Sometimes I don't necessarily like reading multiple point of views especially in reverse harems because they can be difficult and not really well written but this one was good. Despite being abused and tortured her entire life Maya has a refreshingly optimistic point of view which I find comforting in some ways. So many books depict the heroine as jaded with deep seated emotional wounds that I feel as a reader they dwell on for too much of the book. Its nice to actually have a character that just picks herself up after a fall and keeps on going.
The steamy romance aspect of this book was pretty dulled down, which considering Maya has been locked in a basement her whole life and doesn't have very much social interaction outside of her abusers is good. So if you're looking for something that knocks your socks off or makes your toes curl or whatever, this book is more of a virgins first steps into the real world so to speak.
I really liked this book, it was somewhat similar to another book I've read and I cant for the life of me remember what it was called. Seriously does this ever happen to you? I googled it and everything and came up with nada. Doesn't matter, between the two books I would totally choose this one. The plot of this story is fast paced and entertaining. The characters were great and I loved the protagonist. It was a fun read and I cant wait till book 2 comes out!
